Iron Mountain Hike in Manitou Springs

This was such a great little hike! Whether you’re a local or just visiting this hike offers a perfect blend of manageable challenge and stunning scenery.

Trail Overview
Iron Mountain Trail is a hop and a skip from downtown Manitou Springs, making it a great option for a quick escape into nature. The trail is about 2.7 miles out-and-back, with a moderate elevation gain of around 574 feet. Most hikers find it on the easy to mildly challenging side, but it’s suitable for anyone with a reasonable fitness level. Expect well-marked paths, not many other hikers, and a couple of great spots to pause and soak in the views.

Tips for First-Time Hikers

  • Parking: Street parking is available near the trailhead, but there isn't much and it can fill up quickly on weekends. Arrive early to get a  spot.
  • Gear: Wear sturdy shoes (I use Hokas or Tevas), sunscreen, and plenty of water-Colorado’s sunshine can be deceptively strong!
  • Timing: Early mornings or late afternoons are best to enjoy cooler temperatures.
  • Trail Map: For detailed directions and the latest trail conditions, check out the AllTrails map: Iron Mountain on AllTrails.

After Your Hike
Once you’re finished at Iron Mountain, you HAVE to head over to Rocky Mountain Beignets in Manitou! It's a favorite of ours-fresh, fluffy New Orleans beignets-made to order🤤.

If you try this hike I hope you love it as much as we did😊
